Overland Sauna Tent FAQs

Overland Sauna Tent FAQs

1. How hot can the Overland Sauna get?
200°f. (93°c.) approximately 20-30 minutes after firing up your Overland sauna stove. Time to heat up depends on the firewood you use, as well as the outside air temperature. You will hone the craft of managing a good fire. Igniting the stove with some crumpled newspaper, kindling and dry, seasoned firewood) and controlling the burn rate of the stove by adjusting the stove damper are the two primary ways of managing and heating your Overland Sauna tent.

Yes! Please stay tuned, we are testing different floor options to accompany your Overland Sauna Tent.

3. Can the tent be staked down and left up at all times?
Yes! Even though the Overland Sauna tent can be disassembled and reassembled in just a few minutes' time. (insert link to the video of setup and tear down), we have several Overland Sauna tents set up continuously for several months now. Just be mindful of excessive winds and dogs that may want to get in on the sauna action without using the door.

4. What makes this tent work so much better than cheaper alternatives?
Two major things make the Overland Sauna tent work better. First, the stove. The Overland Sauna stove is specifically engineered for sauna. The rock basket holds approximately 80 lbs. (45kgs.) of sauna rocks. Heat transfer from the stove into sauna rocks help create heavy dense heat, conductive heat that helps heat your body. The stove burns hot and clean. The double stove walls are constructed with a double layer air gap that reduces scorching, radiant heat.

Secondly, the tent fabric. The triple layer cotton fabric helps insulate and retain heat in the sauna tent. With good ventilation, we can control the air flow, amplifying convection heat that stimulates a positive sauna experience.

5. How wide of a bench will the Overland Sauna tent accommodate?
24" (61 cm) x 60" (127 cm) is an ideal bench size. The Overland Sauna Tent can support a two tier bench system. Creating high and low bench seating is a great way to offer different temperature and humidity ranges within your Overland Sauna tent. More designs and plans for DIY sauna benches are coming soon.
6. What is the tent material?
three ply cotton, waterproof exterior membrane.

7. How does the stove work? (Wood length, damper, dry wood, kindling, etc).
The Overland Sauna stove has been designed specifically for sauna action. The fire box accepts standard 16" logs. We encourage using only dry, seasoned quality firewood in your Overland Sauna stove. Starting a fire is best achieved by the Upside Down fire method, where logs are loaded into a clean firebox at the bottom, kindling atop, and a crumpled piece of newspaper to ignite the kindling. The upside down fire technique reduces smoke and gets the fire rockin' faster.

We can control the burn rate in the fire box by regulating the stove damper. Closing the damper slows the fire and the burn rate and helps retain more heat inside the firebox, as opposed to going up the chimney. Opening the damper increases the fire and burn rate.

8. How big is the Interior footprint?
The Overland Sauna tent dimensions are 5.9' wide x 6.9' tall.
